The Town of Haymarket is seeking applicants to fulfill one (1) vacant Planning Commission seat. This appointment will be made by vote of the Town Council and the appointed party shall serve until June 2024.
The Town of Haymarket Planning Commission is a seven member body appointed by the Town Council, with each member serving four-year terms. The Haymarket Planning Commission is responsible for review of zoning and land use matters and is supported by the Town Planner. The Planning Commission reviews applications submitted for changes to zoning districts, special use permits, zoning ordinance and comprehensive plan amendments, and other land use and zoning matters.
Pursuant to VA State Code §15.2-2223, the Haymarket Planning Commission prepares and recommends a comprehensive plan for the physical development of the Town of Haymarket. The Town's Comprehensive Plan was adopted in September 2008, and is currently under review.
The Commission meets the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at Town Hall, 15000 Washington Street, Suite 100.
The position involves, at a minimum, the following:
- Attendance at the Regular Planning Commission Meeting on the third of Monday each month, at 7 p.m.
- Special meetings, as needed
Candidate must meet the eligibility for office:
- At least 18 years of age
- Registered to vote
- Resident of the Town of Haymarket
- Resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for at least 1 year

Interviews will be conducted.
Appointment shall be made at a Regular Town Council Meeting.
